Challenge: Old Mother Hubbard was a pet food company that had been in business for over 100 years. They were looking to broaden their business model by creating a new category of dog and cat foods.
Solution: Snakebite, Inc. partnered with the family-owned company to introduce a human-grade, holistic and all-natural pet food named Wellness. The brand name instantly resognated with the consumer and conveyed a clear message of health and wellbeing. The package stood out on shelf with a simple, minimalist design approach, using color blocking as a means to identify various flavors. The absence of dog and cat photography was intentional and replaced with only a sun, moon and star logo, changing the way people perceive what is inside the bag. The brand expanded into different product categories such as canned dog and cat food, vitamins, supplements and pet treats.
Result: By securing placement in the two top pet retailers in the U.S., Wellness changed the pet food industry through innovation and dedication. Wellness continues to expand their product lines and is currently the #1 National brand of dog food in the U.S.
